Page -12 'section: Performance Impact of Auditing'. Even though this is an old TR, but it says the impact is 'marginal', I haven't seen any perceivable performance impact at our site with ONTAP 9.x(3 to 9)

Yeah, I had recently that issue - volume full. Make sure to properly setup log retention, vol size, alerts and etc. (Once volume is full access to CIFS share blocked. )
