lun.offline warning

Hi folks I cam across this Friday. and noticed the volumes were also renamed with the prefix of "sdw" but today I notice that is no longer the case. (see snip below)

I suppose I wam wondering.. :

a)what caused this ? Some backup program that calls vss of sorts? And this is simply the first time i notcied.

b)do i need to be concerned?

c) what can I do to prevent it again (if it needs to be prevented?

These are cloned LUNs, probably created/deleted by a SnapManager product during the verification phase of a backup job. You don't need to be concerned and therefore question c can be disregarded

Andrc is entirely correct. These are normal messages that will be seen as part (most commonly) of a SnapManager for Exchange backup, although they can appear for other types of backups as well. They can be safely ignored.

Hi - the snapmanager products create the LUN's prefixed "sdw" as part of the snapshot process when invoked. By the looks of the messages it looks like snapshots of a LUN containing by VM's C drives, SMVI ?
