where does the ONTAP images gets saved ? does the Netapp have separate space allocated for saving the OS files ?
and how much space is allocated to save these files?

Those won't affect capacity your data aggrs.

images and other things go in mroot (root vol/aggr)

default space is allocated to root aggr or we need allocate during config ?

root aggrs and vol0 are done automatically as part of the provisioning and initial cluster config.
