Hi,

a few days ago i made a volume clon from a snapshot to restore a virtual machine.

After i finished the restore, i wasn't able to delete the volume, because the volume which i cloned got the same snapshot settings as the source volume. And the source has tamperproof snapthots enabled.

I had luck, the retention for the hourly snapshots is one day, so i disabled the scheduled snapshots and wait one day to delete the volume.

My question to think about: Is it useful to enable tamperproof snapshots on a volume clone per default when on the source enabed?

Kind regards

Stefan

I have also run into this and it is a pain! Clones should NOT have snapshot policies automatically applied unless I decide to apply one. Please change this functionality or at least ask the user if they want to apply the policies while making the clone.
