hello:

Depending on which firmware you want to upgrade, updates for BMC/sp, disks and disk cages do not require a reload, while BIOS updates do require a controller restart.

Best regards.

Hello,

I am about to apply firmware to my FAS2650A. Is reloading mandatory?

The reason I am asking this is,
My environment uses NetApp as external storage for VMware, and due to a rule with the client, I can't stop the parcel (it would require an adjustment to stop it)
So, if I reload, the parcel will be down and it will be a critical issue.

Thankyou

It depends on the firmware you want to update: disruptive or non-disruptive.

Disruptive ones like BIOS or PCI/chipset ones, require a node reboot

Non-disruptive ones like SP/BMC, disks or shelves, don't.
