Sirs, are you sure because my switch Brocade are detected all disks of the shelf as the following below:

(brocade switch)

Sierra Logic, Inc. 22:08:00:0a:33:c9:5b:ae

Sierra Logic, Inc. 22:08:00:0a:33:c9:5b:b2

Sierra Logic, Inc. 22:08:00:0a:33:c9:5b:b3

Sierra Logic, Inc. 22:08:00:0a:33:c9:5b:b5

Sierra Logic, Inc. 22:08:00:0a:33:c9:5b:b8

....

....

Sierra Logic, Inc. 22:0c:00:0a:33:aa:a1:bf

But, when a set my fcpadmin config in mode initiator I have the follow message:

(storage controller - ontap)

Thu Mar 1 12:16:16 GMT [fci.device.login.failure:error]: Fibre Channel adapter 0a could not login to unknown device sw-san1:2.47 (0x0101029b).

Thu Mar 1 12:16:16 GMT [fci.device.login.failure:error]: Fibre Channel adapter 0a could not login to unknown device sw-san1:2.61 (0x01010275).

Thu Mar 1 12:16:16 GMT [fci.device.login.failure:error]: Fibre Channel adapter 0a could not login to unknown device sw-san1:2.59 (0x01010279).

Thu Mar 1 12:16:16 GMT [fci.device.login.failure:error]: Fibre Channel adapter 0a could not login to unknown device sw-san1:2.57 (0x0101027c).

Thu Mar 1 12:16:16 GMT [fci.device.login.failure:error]: Fibre Channel adapter 0a could not login to unknown device sw-san1:2.55 (0x01010281).

Thu Mar 1 12:16:16 GMT [fci.device.login.failure:error]: Fibre Channel adapter 0a could not login to unknown device sw-san1:2.49 (0x01010297).

The WAFL could not login in device because this disks is SATA in Fibre Channel ? Or we have possibility to use this shelf in switch fabric?

Obs. Remember this Shelf have SATA disks (DS14MK2 SHLF,14.0TB SATA,QS,R5) but the back module in shelf is a AT-FCX (fibre input)

Tks

Tks for your response.

Taking advantage about this topic, I would like share other question, about this case.

We have only two fibre inputs in FAS2040 are 0a, 0b. Also I have a Brocade Switch Fibre Channel (FabricOS)

I need to connect two differents shelfs (DS14MK2 SATA and DS14MK4 FC) in head controller.

We can connect DS14MK4 FC ESH4 shelf through Fabric Switch but unfortunately can not use DS14MK2 SATA in fabric topology, that you said (it's not supported).

The only solution was connect the 0a (fabric sw brocade in zoning with DS14MK4 FC ESH4 shelf ) and 0b direct attached with DS14MK2 SATA, that is work, all disks was detected BUT i receive one strange Alert:

Sun Mar 4 15:14:13 BRT [config.BadLocalSwitch:ALERT]: Disk sw-san1:1.37 is attached to a switch. However, there are also local attached disks. This is an illegal configuration.

Sun Mar 4 15:14:13 BRT [config.BadLocalSwitch:ALERT]: Disk sw-san1:1.32 is attached to a switch. However, there are also local attached disks. This is an illegal configuration.

Sun Mar 4 15:14:13 BRT [config.BadLocalSwitch:ALERT]: Disk sw-san1:1.36 is attached to a switch. However, there are also local attached disks. This is an illegal configuration.

... this alert for all FC disks

This ALERT is normal or i need change this topology?
What are my alteranatives ?

Tks again
