With the emphasis on cloud computing and multi-tenancy, there is now a bigger dependancy on vFilers/multistore.

yet still we are lacking in a serious management console.

will we see in system manager 2.0 real progress in the management of vFilers?

for example the "vfiler dr configure" command is great for configuring cifs shares with destination snapmirrors, for DR

when will be able to configure this from a GUI?

being able to manager CIFS shares from indivual vFilers?

System Manager 2.0 does add vfiler support, but unfortunately it is the same features as FilerView (create, delete, stop/start), so no GUI into the vFiler.

The good news for CIFS shares is the Windows MMC works and most of our customers use it (for both physical controllers and vFilers). You can connect to the vFiler from the MMC and modify shares like a native windows server.

It isn't in System Manager 2.2 or 3.0... it was in a beta at one time and on road maps but unfortunately never made the product... Product Management will need to answer, but it looks like it won't make it into the product (MY Opinion) this late into 7-mode.
