HI community

We have an E-Series 2700 and the issue we are having is the after there is a drive failure the primary controller goes offline but does not get back online automatically, we have to manually change the state to Online after we replace the drives.

So I am wondering:

1. Why does the controller go down? Is this normal behavior?

2. If it is then why doesn't it come back up automatically?

Any help or speculation would be helpful, thanks

Hello,

It is not normal behavior for a controller to go offline or reboot after a drive failure or replacement. I recommend collecting a support bundle and the seven segment error code on the back of the offline controller, and then open a case with NetApp Support for further investigation.

In general, a drive failure should not cause a controller failure. You should contact support for this issue so it can be resolved.
