Add disk shelf to live E Series

Hi,

Im looking to expand my E2624 with a 5600 shelf.

I have read and understood the cabling (I think) however one question remains un answered.

Am I able to do this live?

IE can I add the shelf to the E2624 whilst it is on and serving requests? Will the controler recognise the new disks and be able to add them to a pool?

Hello,

Yes, We can add a new Shelf online. Perform the following steps to hot add a shelf to this system:

Power up the disk shelf.
Wait for the shelf to fully boot and spin up the drives (~2-3 minutes).
Cable the shelf to the storage system.

(Page 13) Adding new drive trays to an existing storage array

Controller will discover the new Drives but they will not be added automatically to the Pools/VG.
