Hi,

We have a central hq and some decentral branches. On the HQ we have some FAS 6240 filers. In the branch because of bandwidth limitations we have a local windows fileserver.

We want to replicate/sync the data on the windows fileserver to the FAS in HQ.

How do we do that? Can we use DFSR? ( We were told that the new version of ontap (8) could do this, because they just needed ntfs journaling)?

Can this be done with an other tool? so sync/replicate from windows 2008 to FAS?

Thx

Urbain

Hi Urbain

This is not possible with Windows/NetApp internal mechanisms... Sorry for the bad news.

There are 3rd party solutions around, of which I've no experience.

If this is about getting the data backed up over the WAN, I'd recommend you OSSV (or SnapProtect).

Regards,

Peter
