Restore vmdk file / Restore Snapshot deleted

Hello Team,

we have accident deleted all snapshot on ontap 8.x.x and deleted vmdk on vmware.

is there any way out to restore snapshot on NetApp or on vmware ?

very appreciate for any kind for help

Hello,

If the snapshot on the volume level was deleted; you either have to restore from a tape backup or if you have aggregate level snapshot to restore from.

Thank you for writing me back.

I forgot to mention it, unfortunately, we don't have a backup outside of other backup devices.

hmm, aggregate level snapshot? another question, if I have deleted all snapshots from the volume, is it deleted also from the aggregate level snapshot?

Hello,

Aggr level snapshot and vol level snapshot are two different thing. keep in mind, when restoring using the aggregate snapshot, all volume under that aggregate will be restored.

Could we do Granular restore for an aggregate level snapshot? or if I restore a snapshot from the aggregate level, I don't have the option to restore just 1 volume?

With aggregate snapshot, there is no option to restore a single volume.
