Also I would think how you gonna use it:
- are you going to add to existing aggregates
- create brand new aggregates

Hello
It is not difficult to complete. I would thoroughly plan, put all on paper and get it done.
1. What you have currently
2.What you Plan to add
3. Check this NetApp KB Hot-add a shelf - shelves with IOM12 modules (netapp.com)
It is fairly simple task.

You can refer to the following links to see the maximum number of diskshttps://hwu.netapp.com/Controller/Index?platformTypeId=2032&platform=6432057&os=32659713

Preliminary preparation: Determine the position of the controller disk cage, as well as the connection distance of the newly added disk cage position, and draw the connection diagram to facilitate the insertion and removal of the expansion. The capacity expansion operation is online, and all disk cabinet connections are dual-link Multi-Path. Therefore, removing one SAS cable does not affect services. Remove a SAS cable before connecting the new device to the original loop. Dual-link does not affect service usage, data, or storage performance. Before capacity expansion, check the health status of A/B controllers and collect information
Check the hardware status of the target controller
Power on the new shelf, modify the shelf number, and restart the shelf
Example Modify the automatic owning option of a hard drive
on-line
Verify that the controller recognizes the disk
Ensure that all system status is normal
The hard disk belongs to a controller
The automatic disk owning function is enabled
Creating aggr
After capacity expansion is complete, perform a health check. Finally, prepare some rollback and emergency plans to prevent other problems

1, you first need to understand the disk rack limits in your SAS stack:
https://kb-cn.netapp.com/on-prem/ontap/OHW/OHW-KBs/Shelf_
Each SAS storage rack stack can contain up to 10 disk racks, except:
DS4486 48 disk racks limited to 5 per stack
The DS460C's disk rack of 60 disks is limited to 4 per stack
If multiple disk racks are mixed, this limit is 240 disks in the stack or 10 disk racks in the stack, whichever is reached first.
The limit of 10 disk racks applies only to the number of racks in the stack. It is not a system constraint because the system can contain multiple stacks. Limitation_in_SAS_Stacks
2. Check whether the IOM module of the disk tray to be expanded is the same as that of the current SAS stack.
