I have a FAS3020 system.

There is a aggregate with 23 disks(it is also only one RAID DP).

I backup it to a LTO4 tape library which is connected to a DELL PE2950 server.

Before the backup speed is only 90GB/hour via TCP/IP protocol.

After i change it to NDMP protocol the backup speed is up to 200GB/hour.

Quite better.

But my question is how can i make it faster again?

Or can i improve it?

What is the best speed of this device?maybe 500GB/hour ??

I checked that:

1.the network usage is 60% of the 1Gb network adapter.

2.both the CPU usage of the PE2950 and FAS3020 are not high.

I use Symantec Backup Exec 2010 R2.

As i know, until now the best speed of LTO4 is 250GB per hour.

I checked all my LTO4 tape unit. So,i think the bottleneck is the LTO4 tape.
