hi,

when purchasing netapp, does it include already the hdd tray? or do i need to buy the hdd from netapp?

FAS2000 series are integrated (controller with + disks in one enclosure). Other models need extra disk enclosure. What exactly you get depends on what you order – it is up to you ☺

There is so called v-Series which allows you to connect third-party storage systems as backend storage. But if you need native disks, then yes, you have to use those from NetApp.

JoJo, you can't insert of the market/shelf disks into a NetApp system. They need to be purchased from NetApp as the do some fine tuning to the disk firmware for compatibility. Also another to ensure an income .
