FAS3140 Shelf Removal

Hello,

we have a FAS3140 that has 2 aggregates FC and SAS, im looking to remove the FC shelf rom there is no data on the aggregate currently, are the steps below correct or are we missing something

Remove volumes extported from aggregate

unassign disks from aggregate

delete aggregate

remove shelf

is it that easy?

Hot removing shelves requires that the system be running ONTAP 8.2.1 or later, otherwise the controller will panic (as it should if it detects a lot of drives suddenly missing).

The procedure for hot-removing shelves on ONTAP 8.2.1 is detailed at https://library.netapp.com/ecmdocs/ECMP1367947/html/GUID-2B80FBD2-007D-4D19-8EB1-9CCEED211001.html - but essentially it's what you have said, yes.
