      <description>the ef series is based on the e-series hardware and software. It is Block storage only.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;AFF is FAS based. File and Block storage with all the efficiency and data protection normallyou associated with NetApp.</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Hi Jerry&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;both use a different OS too&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;All Flash FAS uses Clustered Data ONTAP OS&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;E-Series uses Santricity OS.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Also AFF is unified&amp;nbsp;storage, all protocols NAS and SAN wheras E-Series is for SAN protocols only.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Nigel&lt;/P&gt;</description>
