Afternoon everyone...

Im setting up snapdrive on my hyper-v hosts, i have added the cluster node on each hyper-v host and can see all the VM's, when i attempt to configure the host and specify the Snapinfo data path i recieve the following error:

"Snapinfo directory path is not valid. Snapinfo path for a cluster must be on a shared Data ONTAP LUN."

However the LUN is accessible by all hyper-v hosts......????

Below is an extract from the snapmanger for Hyper-V best practices TR document.

Information

The SnapInfo path must reside on a Data ONTAP LUN. For managing dedicated VMs, the SnapInfo location
needs to be a dedicated Data ONTAP LUN. For managing shared VMs, the SnapInfo location needs to be to a
shared Data ONTAP LUN.
The SnapInfo path must not reside on a CSV.

What is the difference between a dedicated and a shared Data ONTAP LUN? and is there anything special about a shared Data ONTAP LUN?

Thanks,

Aaron.

Hi Aaron,

When you use sdcli to create a LUN, there is a switch, -dtype. It can be either shared or dedicated. Shared is for cluster only.

Hope that helps,

Wei
