Hi!

As Apple shifts from AFP file sharing to SMB2 in OS X 10.9 Mavericks it should increase performance for NAS fileshares... right?

I have a customer that uses MAC computers , and have constantly been complaining about poor performance.

We have pointed to SMB1 on the MAC OS, as a Win 7 with SMB2 hade very good performance on their file server.

Now, they have upgraded to OS X 10.9 Mavericks but still thinks it´s very poor compared.

Any idéas how ONTAP handles then new OS X 10.9 Mavericks sessions?

//H

If you collect a packet trace you can confirm which version (dialect) of SMB is being spoken. Make sure to start the trace before mapping the drive or connecting to the share. This will capture the protocol negotiation that occurs upon first connection between Mac client and storage controller.

Seems like there are some problems using Mavericks on NAS shares.

And the workaround is to disable SMB2 and only use SMB again on the Mac cleint?

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5467191

NTFS read-only probably means I can hook up a USB drive with NTFS on it and read the files.

So nothing to do with NAS and SMB

--erik
