&lt;P&gt;Adam is right, you should first decide on which protocol to use since there are differences on multipath configurations depending on the protocol you choose.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;For FCP:&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;UL&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;On Windows, you should use DSM MPIO from NetApp;&lt;/LI&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;On VMware ESXi, you should use ESXi native multipath capabilities. Just make sure you use ALUA enabled LUNs and round-robin as the multipath path selection policy.&lt;/LI&gt;
&lt;/UL&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;For VMware, also take a look at this: &lt;A title="http://www.netapp.com/us/media/tr-3749.pdf" href="http://www.netapp.com/us/media/tr-3749.pdf" target="_blank"&gt;http://www.netapp.com/us/media/tr-3749.pdf&lt;/A&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;* there are amenities that should be considered depending on the protocol you use.&lt;/P&gt;
