you will need to download hte disk qual package seperately and copy it to the filer.

Also did you run upgrade advisor as you may have disks that need their firmware upgraded prior to the ontap image upgrade

Hi All,

I am planning to upgrade my Ontap to 8.1.4 and i have downloaded the ONTAP IMAGE and i have shared ETC$ following this link :- http://www.cosonok.com/2013/09/how-to-access-etc-share-from-windows.html but i was able to map the share as drive and able to see contents in /ETC but when i tried opening the folder /etc/software it is throwing an error stating not enuff permissions 😞

Also one more doubt i know the Ontap Image itself will have DISK SHELF FIRMWARE , Will that also have the disk qualification packages ???? Or do i need to download the disk qualification packages seperately and upgrade them ????

Thanks,

Nayab

Hi All,

I have found the solution for this and solution is to create same user in Windows as well as in Netapp also password must be same

Example ( SAME SHOULD BE BOTH IN WINDOWS AND NETAPP )

USER:- storageadmin

PASSWORD :- P@ssw0rd

Please refer to this link for more information :- https://kb.netapp.com/support/index?page=content&id=1011622&locale=en_US

Thanks,

Nayab

Also to apply the permissions to all the sub-directories of that particular share run the command

cifs access <share> -m
