How to make OCUM database backup to cifs share working ?

OCUM 5.1 on W2k8R2

We want to store the database backups on a cifs share on NAS.

It is easy to set the database target directory to point to \\nasstorage\share\folder\

However the backup fails because (we suppose) the windows service that handles the backup process uses the local system account that do not have any access to the share

It is easy too, to change the account used by the windows service that handles the backup process

But which one ?

We tried with the "DFM server" service as some previous discussions mentioned this service for similar need for NFS ... unsuccessfully

Which service do we have to modify ?

More generally, what are the prerequisites to store archive database backup on a cifs share ?

We will appreciate a lot any information that will help us find the KB or discussion that provides the answer.

Alain,

1) User gets an error “Error: Destination directory \\<cifs-share> does not exist” while setting Destination Directory to a CIFS share path.

–Add a user having privileges on the CIFS share as an “administrator” on the DFM station.

–Set the DFM Server service “Log On as” user as the above user.

–Add this user to the DFM with GlobalFullControl role.

2) Not able to create backups from Web UI if database backup Destination Directory is set to a CIFS share.

–Add a user having privileges on the CIFS share as an “administrator” on the DFM station.

–Set the DFM Scheduler service “Log On as” user as the above user.

–Add this user to the DFM with GlobalFullControl role.

3) DFM/UM backups can be located on NAS, but for CIFS they need to be in a subfolder of the share, not the root of the share.

This information will be added to a forthcoming KB.
