how to delete FC switches (without SAN license)?

From the past we have 2 FC Switches showing in the DFM "Global Overview", when clicking on them I get the error that they cannot be managed without SAN License (which expired long ago).

Checking the "dfm" CLI I cannot see specific entry to remove them, anyone know a trick?

Peter,

the only way I know to remove them is using the "dfm fcswitch delete" command. Without a SAN license (not sold since 3.3) I am not sure how to remove them.

The SAN license was dropped in DFM 3.3 (pg 32)

fcswitch -- edit and list the managed FC switches

SYNOPSIS

dfm fcswitch list [ -a ] [ -q ] [ <objects> ... ]

dfm fcswitch add [ -N ] { all | <objects> ... }

dfm fcswitch delete { all | <objects> ... }

DESCRIPTION

The fcswitch command manages the list of FC switches,

which determines which switches the DataFabric Manager server monitors.

Adding FC switches to the list of managed switches enables

monitoring for those switches. Deleting them disables

monitoring.

Hi Peter,

The DFMPurge tool should come to your rescue here. Else raise a case with NetApp support and get a temp SAN license and delete them.

As expected, the dfmpurge did not remove these objects (because they are not deleted)...

I'll open a case and ask for a SAN license to get them out of the DB.

Hi Peter,

Now I get why dfmpurge couldnt remove it. Becasue its designed to delete only those objects that are marked deleted by dfm-monitor process. I think thats not your case.

All you would like to do is remove the FC switches from DFM. Pls do the other method that I suggested.

BTW did purge help you remove other mark deleted objects. Do you see any difference in your DFM server before and after purge ?

Case number (not being very actively worked on):

2004098313

dfmpurge did remove quite a lot of records (didn't write down the exact numbers though)...

No difference been seen so far, same responsiveness (was good before) and only little smaller database backups (from 2.78GB to 2.63 GB)...
