OnCommand alert custom email

Hey Guys,

I was wondering if there is a way to modify the email alerts
generated when an alarm is triggered. I'd like to see a bit more information
added to the email alerts so non-storage people such as Incident Coordinators
can get some more context around the issue.

Hi Scott,

The e-mail customization is available for userquota alerts but not for other alerts. Can you give us couple of examples of what is being sent today and what is that you are looking for ?

Hey Adai,

Here are a few things I think may be handy to have….

Direct link to the event in the alerting email
Ability to acknowledge the alert from the
alerting email
The ability to create custom email alert templates
that can be applied based on per alert/event basis…. this way we can have
specific emails sent to specific email addresses with info that pertains to
what they need, not just a generic message…
If we had the ability to identify a primary Group for a filer/vfiler, we could then set the alerting email to display that primary group. If Group naming reflects the role of the filer it will make it easier for non-storage admins to identify the use of the filer i.e. Incident Coordinators)

There is likely a few more ‘nice to have’s’ but, that all I got off the top of my head atm.

You mentioned that a direct link to the event is already in
the email… all I get is a link to the main login… once logged in, I have to
manually browse to Events, and then filer by event source ID.

This is an example of the link I get in the alert emails.

What I want to achieve is to have these alerts sent to the
Incident Coordinators team… but I need to remove any manual search efforts on
their part.

If I’m missing something in the config/setup please let me know.

There is a bug for restoring these links (537978) similar to what was in DFM 4.x.
