OnCommand Balance to support FAS31xx and other storage

Hello

IHAC who is very interested in going for Balance. They ran a POC and are very happy with what they see.

He has FAS32xx as well as FAS31xx and FAS20x0 and HP systems.

With the new key model, we are limited to manage FAS32x00 only and this is a show stopper to make the deal.

Is that possible to get a version to manage those FAS31x0/FAS20x0 and HP ones ?

I'm surprised by this and was able to confirm by looking at documentations.

That said, if you look at the IMT, you see that 3210 is supported for Balance 4.1.1, right ? You mean you wouldn't be able to buy licenses for each of your 7-mode controllers, including 3210 ?

As for HP, yes, I think you can forget about that, but it is not consistant with the IMT that still says that other vendors are supported...

I'm not being very helpful here, but keep us updated if you find informations 🙂

from the sales FAQ:

ARE THE FAS STORAGE SYSTEMS OTHER THAN 2200, 3200, AND 6200 SERIES ELIGIBLE FOR THE CONTROLLER-BASED LICENSING?

Answer: No.

So FAS3140 is more supported with the new license model

Hello,

For the "other" storage, you have tow way, for HP 3PARby exemple you need to have a SMIS server to manage this informations

and for HP XP you need the HDS plufin for BALANCE, but I' ve found this just for BALANCE 4.1.1 and an BALANCE Proxy is needed

Wath's your HP storage ?
