Not able to install two instances of DataOnTap 8.2 7mode .

can anybody help me in installing DataOnTap 8.2 Simulator two instance on a windows 8 . I tried installing the sim using VM Player . one instance is working fine . when I copied the same simulator in to different path and tried to run I got the below error .

priror to this I have changed the serial number of the box but it did not work .

I had to have 2 instances at the 2 different vmware bases, in your case, 2 windows8 with vm player.

I have had similar issues after setting the serial number and nvram sysid. The workaround is creating the two vsims separately. Not sure why it doesn't take the updated serial once already set, but by the time it took to troubleshoot, I was able to manually create the second one in less time than trying to fix the copy.
