Hi, I am new to NetApp and would like to learn. How do I download or get a copy of the simulator.

I am not a NetApp customer yet

In order to download Ontap simulator, you need a valid NetApp support account. For that you need to be NetApp customer/partner.

You can download ONTAP Simulator with just a guest account. What I've discovered, however, is that you don't appear to be able to download any patches for it with a guest account, so you won't be able to make CIFS work because of Microsoft CVE-2022-38023 (read here: https://kb.netapp.com/Support_Bulletins/Customer_Bulletins/SU530 ) and the ONTAP simulator OVAs aren't patched.

I am currently attempting to apply for a customer account using the SImulator's licence(s), but so far to no avail.

This is a major hole in NetApp's Simulator program. If they want people to try out their product, they need to fix this ASAP.
