Hi everyone, greetings

I´m making an active sync lab with the ONTAP simulator 9.15.1, it´s a snapmirror symmetric active/active configuration

All the configurations are done following the NetApp documentation but when i start the replication the snapmirror relationship is shown as "Unhealthy" and the state "Not initialized", although i initialize the relationship over and over the Unhealthy and Not initialize status persists.

The command snapmirror show -fields unhealthy-reason shows nothing but at some point in another attempt showed something about some "update" failure.

It´s there any limitations in the simulator that turns down this type of implementation? Has anyone already tried this implementation successfully?

I appreciate any help

Good day

I am not 100% sure the simulator can setup a synchronous mirror and SM-as symmetric active/active in a standard config.

Maybe try apply the master license mentioned in this thread Solved: Re: Does simulator have SnapMirror Synchronous License? - NetApp Community

- Can you share output from

license show

net int show

snapmirror show -source abc -destination xyz -instance

- Can you create a standard async snapmirror relationship as a test ?

- How about a synchronous snapmirror relationship

- Maybe then setup a normal async mirror then try convert it to a asymmetric SM-as

https://docs.netapp.com/us-en/ontap/snapmirror-active-sync/convert-active-sync-task.html#convert-an-existing-snapmirror-relationship-to-an-asymmetric-snapmirror-active-sync-relationship

Hi

In another post someone told that synchronous replication was not possible in the simulator, but i tried the master license of the post you mentioned and apparently it is working correctly.
Relationship health is now Healthy and state is In Sync
Now i´ll do test to validate that replication is really working properly
Thanks for the help👌

Not so well haha

How i said, replication seems to be working now, all is Healthy, but, when i start setting up the iSCSI mapping (Windows side) the simulator crash, once the first path is connected to the Windows Server, the respective node of the lif i initally connect goes down, same with the others.

I´ve already done another iSCSI labs with the simulator and had no problems

I guess there is a limitation for this type of config in the simulator.
