Unable to open filerview in simulator

Successfull installed simulator in Linux but Unable to open it in filer view.

http://192.x.x.x/na_admin not working.

Check if your simulator has reachable address and proper gateway configuration.Is this a Vmware machine ?

Yes Simulator(filer ip) is reachable from my machine and Vmware and I have installed a Vmware and in that i have installed Linux.

Maddy,

Have you tried to change the 'Promiscuous Mode' to 'Accept' from VI client on the ESX server. If not please refer to the thread

http://communities.netapp.com/message/4792#4792 and try to enable it,

By default, ESX installation Reject the Promiscuous Mode for security purpose but in this case, try to enable that to see if Filerview is reachable

In my experience with the sims, FilerView doesn't work right out of the box. The sim distribution does not contain all of the support files to run it.

Therefore, what I end up doing is downloading the regular ONTAP distribution from the NOW site for the release I'm running on my sim. Then I install it as I woudl on real filer (I usually have to increase the size of my root volume). Then I reboot my sim (no 'download' needed). This usually works.

Sorry for confusion,

I have a windows machine and in that i have installed VMWare workstation and in that i have installed Ubuntu desktop as said in the simulator PDF.

Now Can you please tell me where can I find Licenses for HTTP. so that i can install and enable http.

I believe that makes filer view possible.

Maddy,

You dont need HTTP to be licensed to access filerview, you need set the "options httpd.admin.enable on" registry. If registry enable doesnt work then re-install simulator. Give a try to Adam's suggestion too.

I tried this on my 7.3.1 simulator and it worked well. Excellent solution.

PS: It only works in CIFS/NFS type of Data ONTAP installation method.

I use the native ubuntu
NetApp simulator was installed

Do I understand you right: You try to use FilerView from the machine the sim is installed on?

That won't work.

Try to use it from another machine.

E.g. I'm using it from my Windows machine to the (CentOS) VM the sim is installed in without problems.

From inside the CentOS VM, it won't work. (Like shooting yourself in the foot...)

It's the way the network interfaces are used...
