Hi,

We have a customer who is still running Snapmanager for SQL as they are using a feature that is uniq to it.

They clone a database in NORECOVERY mode and then manually apply logs.

In Snapcenter one can clone databases but NORECOVERY mode is not supported.

As snapmanager requires Ontap 9.3 we need to find an alternative to is asap so that they can upgrade their Ontap.

We are currently looking into Commvault to see if it supports this specific feature.

It would be much better though if the customer could stay with Netapps native tools.

Anyone know if there are any plans to support this feature in Snapcenter?

Cheers,

Johan

disclaimer : works != support.. as long as it doesn't scare you or your customer the SmSQL has "NetApp limited support" for all current versions of ONTAP ( today it's up to 9.10.1). SmSQL rely on ONTAPI/ZAPI calls which is still works but is unclear when NetApp is going to drop it from ONTAP (all new calls/functions implemented only as REST since 9.8). IMHO SC is very pale shadow of previous generations of " integrated data protection" solutions from NetApp
