It is preferred that we remove the drive from the cluster before replacing. Have you tried removing the drive via an API command or only through the GUI?

We received quite few errors regarding the bad sectors on the disk.

After raising a case we we informed to fail the disk manually and then replace

while trying to fail the disk, we are getting below error

storage disk fail -disk 2.10.3 -i true

Warning: The system will not prefail the disk and its contents will not be copied to a replacement disk before being failed
         out. Do you want to fail out the disk immediately? {y|n}: y

Error: command failed: Failed to fail the disk. Reason: Disk is not a file system disk.

Can anyone help,

However all disk status are healthy and are in green

Is that (2.10.3) a spare disk (spare disk cannot be failed) ? You can run this command to check it -
::> storage disk show -spare

The "disk fail" command is used on a file system disk (data/parity).

Is that Storage a FAS/AFF (running ontap)?
