The backup of only certain VM's on a NetApp vlume is failling.

I am running into a weird scenario, my VMWare infrastructure in hosted on NetApp Volumes and are being backed up using SMVI ver 2.

On one volume, the backups of only certain VM's fails with the following message: VM "VM name" will not be backed up since VMWare snapshot create operation failed" in the SMVI software. The weird thing is that I can create a VMWare snapshot of the problematic VM's. I know that VMTools were some times problematic so I re-installed the tools on all the problematic systems with no success. Does anybody have an idea?

Are these win 2003 VM's? Usually aligning the VMDK and installing the latest VMware tools fixes the problem.

Yes, they all are W2K3 R2 boxes, but as mentioned in my original posting I did re-install the VMTools with no success.

What about vmdk alignment? Is that ok?
