Hardware Assisted Locking

I see that this is supported in vSphere 4.1 and that NetApp is a leading partner in this area. However, there seems to be few details about what version of DOT is needed, how to enable it, and the like. Does anyone have some details?

Yes, I have seen that and have upgraded to vSphere 4.1. What I haven't been able to find is a setup guide from either vendor with details on how to configure HAL or HAL best practices.

It will be on Data ONTAP 8.0.1 (as the blog states). 8.0.1 is not out yet. WHEN it is, the feature will be on by default and no action will be needed as vSphere will detect and use it.
