SnapMirror TDP too slow

delgiglioli

Hi gurus,

I'm transferring a 6TB encrypted 7-mode volume to a C-Dot storage on AWS and transfer speed is about 2.4MB per minute.

Can the encryption impact this transfer? Is there any flag or option to increase this speed?

Any suggestion?

Thank you!

Hi

please check if there is any throttle set in on source or destination controller. if enable try disabling the throttle and check.

C-mode::options rep*

7mode: options replication.throttle.enable

Also You can configure a TCP window size for SnapMirror relationships between the 7-Mode volume and the ONTAP volume to improve the SnapMirror transfer throughput so that the replication operations are completed faster.

Thanks. I already did all of that.

I don't know what's going on.

Have you considered a traceroute from the 7-mode to the destination IP? Maybe you are hitting a network link in the process that you do not realize?

Have you considered a packet-trace from both sides? Maybe there are errors being generated someplace (retransmits, etc)

delgiglioli

Traceroute is ok. No latency.

TMAC_CTG

Packet-trace. see what's going on.

Ok, well, while a snapmirror is in progress, get a packet trace on the source and another on the destination. Have someone in your networking group who is able to view/understand packet-traces look for anomolies. Additionally, if you open a case with NetApp, they will likely ask for something similar.
