Responses are inline:
a) Deploy a new ONTAP Cloud & AltaVault appliance on Azure
AltaVault can be deployed on Azure as an AVA-c4 only (no support for AVA-c8 or AVA-c16). ONTAP cloud support for Azure is also limited if I remember correctly (vs. AWS).
b) Break the current on-prem to AWS SM relationships
Are you breaking both relationships (I assume yes?)
c) SnapMirror the volumes which are already residing on AWS to Azure and once completed, break those SM relationships
That seems reasonable, assuming the ONTAP cloud version can support it.
d) Establish new SM relationships from on-prem to Azure and sync deltas
Yes, that should work too (resync)
e) Will the steps above work or do I need new baseline transfers from on-prem to Azure??
You shouldn't need to do a new baseline is my understanding.
f) In case a new baseline is needed, is there already development in avoiding that in the future?
Not that I'm aware of.
I'm going to loop in another ONTAP cloud resource to ensure my responses are correct for the above. He'll respond separately if I can get him engaged.
