OCCM 1.1 and replicatio between AWS regions

Hi,

to enable OCCM to build a SnapMirror/SnapVault replication by Drag and Drop (I love this!) there must be a routable connection between the VPCs that are homes for Cloud ONTAP.

Otherwise OCCM is being able to provision the AWS ressources but he cannot communicate with the EC2 instances via IP.

So is there an FAQ/how to to connect different VPCs in different regions? As far as I know you have to build a VPN connection between the VPCs to do that, any best practices document would be helpfull.

First, you might want to browse the documentation on VPC Peering (and no, you can't connect VPC's from different regions this way, just thought it is a good read)

Bottom line, if you are looking for AWS configuration questions/issues (especially VPC configuration questions), it is best to consult AWS documentation. You will get your best source of information from them.

thanks a lot. https://aws.amazon.com/articles/5472675506466066 was what I'm looking for 🙂

And yes, I fully agree that the AWS documentation should be the first place to look for that kind of information.

But maybee it would be a good idea to also include this kind of information in the video library on poc.netapp.com.

With the ease of use of replication in OCCM 1.1 customers may want to replicate between Availabilty Zones.
