Hello,

How are you ? How do you backup NetApp volumes to AltaVault using NBU 8.1. I looked into Relication Director but it seems to create SLP for replicating into backup filer ( or volume) and then backing it up to Tape/disk etc with NDMP?

What we are attempting to achieve is backup straight from NetApp cDOT (9.2) --> AltaVault (4.3.1) --> AWS S3 using NBU 8.1. How do we achive this with NBU and NetApp cDOT 9.2.x ?

This link seems to suggest doable but can't figure out how!

To use NBU with Altavault, you configure it as an OST destination - This document explains it further - https://library.netapp.com/ecm/ecm_download_file/ECMLP2584136

Yes, using OST we can use AltaVault as backup target destination. My question was how would I backup NetApp volumes (source) into AltaVault (Target)?

I believe this video shows you how to backup one of the host ( NBU Client) into AltaVault. What I was hoping to achieve is to backup NetApp cDOT volumes into AltaVault/AWS S3 using NetBackup.

Hi,

There is no existing direct ONTAP to AltaVault integration through NBU today. As mentioned, you'll need to send this data via streaming backup in an OST backup policy, which requires a NBU media server to move the data between ONTAP and AltaVault.
