Slow FCP transfer speeds

We are seeing slow FCP transfer speeds (65 MBps) over 4 Gbps fiber lines. Watching the server and the filer during the transfer, neither one is maxing out it's resources. We have tried different setups to eliminate possible bottlenecks: running through a switch, direct connect between filer port 0b and a blade, direct connect between filer port 0b and a server. In all cases we still see slow fiber speeds. Have updated HBA drivers, set speed settings to 4 Gbps, adjusted queue depth on the Windows server, etc to no avail.

Have an open ticket with NetApp Support ( # 2000136708) but that seems to be going nowhere.

Anyone else seen the same or similiar results with regards to transfer speeds?

OK have to issue a retraction here. Helps if you do a physical audit of your equipment. Turns out our disk and disk shelves are 2 Gbps max. These were in place with FAS3020s which we then upgraded to FAS3070s. So always remember to check out the entire data pipeline.

Having said that, we are still short of 2 Gbps speeds.

Ran SIO and have uploaded results.

NetApp support is working indepth with me and we will be doing a complete physical audit of the equipment to see what we "really" have.

Thanks for the help and suggestions.

Thanks for the update Scott.

In your SIO results, with 40 threads you're starting to get close (75% of 2GB), but ou still have a ways to go. Your performance at 2 threads isn't as good. You may want to collect the perfmon physical disk counters sec/read and reads/sec, then comare that to perfstat. If your latencyies are significantly higher as measured on the host vs filer, then the bottleneck is at the host. If you see essentially the same latencies on host and filer, then the bottleneck is at the filer.

I also encountered the same problem, how?

We have also encountered the same problem, running MS cluster, and standalone win servers
