How to move the Snap Creator to a new server?

Howdy all,

I'm looking for guidelines on how to move the Snap Creator service from one windows host to another. Currently we have ServerX doing both Snap Creator and OnCommand 5.1. I need to move both Snap Creator and Oncommand to a new physical server. I know how to move the OnCommand part, but I'm new to Snap Creator and need to now how to move the Snap Creator config to the new server.

Is it just a matter of installing SC fresh on the new server and copy pasting the configs and logs folders back? Or do I need to do more?

I will create a DNS alias so the old server netbios name is kept and I do not need to re-configure all the SC clients,

Many thanks,

Hans

Hi,

If you are not upgrading Snap Creator, you just need to do the following:

1) Stop current SC Server

2) Copy configs logs and gui/snapcreator folder

3) Install new SC Server same version as before

4) Stop the new sc Server

5) Copy the files to the new location

6) Start sc Server service

Thanks,

Kapil

Hi,

Apart from the configs and logs you also must copy and move the \scServer3.x.x\gui\snapcreator folder as this contains the database.

This will make sure all the users and schedules are intact.

Thanks,

Kapil

Hi Kapil,

Is it just a matter of stopping the SC service and than copying the files and than starting the service? Or do I need to type a command or so to make the changes active?

Cheers,

Hans
