Precautions when using XCP

Is there a maximum number of files and depth in one process (SCAN / COPY / SYNC / Verify)?
Is there anything else I should be aware of?

Hello,

You can use the -depth to limit the search depth to n levels. As for the maximum number of files, The maxdir size (default is 308MB) defines the maximum file count (approximately one million) in
a single folder. Increase the maxdir size value to increase the file count. Increasing the value will
have an impact on additional CPU cycle.

You can check additional prerequisites for XCP in the link below P. 5-6:

https://www.netapp.com/media/20029-tr-4863.pdf.

Thanks

Hello hmoubara
Thank you for your reply

The link destination could not be referenced.

NFS SCAN
The default is
Maxdir = 308MB
Files = about 1 million
I understood.
I understand that the above can be changed by changing "-depth".

There seems to be no "-depth" in other NFS options or CIFS.
Is there an upper limit in this case?
It may be in the linked PDF document, but I can't refer to it.

hmoubara

Thank you.

I could  access it.

Hello,

There is no upper limit set but it is tied to the maxdir size that is already set which as mention in my pervious reply :

" The maxdir size (default is 308MB) defines the maximum file count (approximately one million) in a single folder. Increase the maxdir size value to increase the file count "

You can check the below kb regarding some example where you might need to modify the maxdir size:
