SMO support for VMDK/VMFS

Hello,

While checking in the SMO matrix if it is supported in a Windows GuestOS on VMWARE with DB on VMDKs,

I can't find anything explicitely saying whether it is now supported or not.

It is explicitely said that RDM luns are OK (with ESX 3.5 !), but nothing about VMFS.

As well, it is said that all topics not covered should be found in Snapdrive matrix.

I only found a document for SMO (date: january 2011) which states that vmfs is not supported.

Thank you

Regis

Hello Regis,

NFS volumes or RDM LUNs should be provisioned directly from the Storage to the VM. Having DB on VMware file system  is not a supported configuration with SMO.

Hello Himanshu,

I suppose that's mean SM-SAP 3.3 or 3.2 does not supports VMware vmdk too?

Regards.

That's correct. Neither SMO nor SMSAP supoorts VMDK.

Hey Himanshu,

Is SMO on VMDKs on the roadmap towards being supported?

Is it planned to support it? The same for SMSAP although SMO is much more important

Thanks,
