Data Backup and Recovery
Data Backup and Recovery
Hi Everybody
I've created a SC Schedule Task to start an Domino-Archive Job every our 5 Min after the Full Hour.
But now when I check the Job Monitor I see the Job is always started in Minute 36.
Seems the Scheduler takes the last time a Schedule was triggered manually and counts onwards from there, totally ignoring the actually set time.
Is this intended by design or am I doing something wrong?
BR
Stefan
Hello Stefan,
What is the snapcreator version?
What operating system the snapcreator server is running?
Will you be able to email the scdump for this config to sivar @ netapp.com ?
Thanks.
Hi Sivar
Version is 4.0p1 but had same Issue on 3.6 too.
Both Systems running on RedHat Linux x64.

Hi Stefan,
I have seen this behavior and I think it is documented in the IAG but I am not sure.
When you create an hourly schedule with 'x' minutes, the job runs after 'x' minutes for the first time and then repeats every hour.
Please try this and let us know if it works for you.
thanks,
Kapil
Hi Kapil
Looks like it really has something to do with starting the Job manually.
At first I created the Schedule with @5 minutes and started a first dry run manually. From that time on it ran wrong.
Yesterday I modified the Schedule to @20 minutes and didn’t do anything manual anymore, now it seems to run at x:20 each time.
I don’t find that behavior logical. Especially in Production when Schedules get triggered manually all the Time this will certainly become a major issue.

Hi Stefan,
In that case I would suggest that you don't use the hourly option and use the cron option instead.
You can use a cron expression like the following:
0 20 * * * ?
if you would like the job to run every hour when the clock hits 20 min.
e.g. 1:20, 2:20...and so on.
Also, you can get more examples and documentation on how to form your cron expressions here:
http://www.quartz-scheduler.org/documentation/quartz-1.x/tutorials/crontrigger
If you need help writing a cron expression for your needs I will be happy to help you.
Thanks,
Kapil
Hi Kapil
So this is intended as a feature this way? If that is the case you seriously have to update and rename your GUI and Documentation.
Of course I can configure everything with cron but then I could also completely skip the SC-Schedule at all and do it in OS-Cron and Scripts too.
SC promises a comprehensive and easy to use experience which it does not live up to in this case.

Hi Stefan,
We are looking into the issue that you have reported and while we are at it I suggested the cron option to you so that your work is not blocked.
There has been no change in the SC scheduler since the 3.x days and this has never been reported before.
We will keep you posted on our findings once we successfully recreate this issue in our environment.
Thanks,
Kapil
Hi Kapil
In that case I interpreted your mail wrong, apologies for that.
As workaround cron is acceptable.
