Hello All, My infra is 100% virtualized with vSphere. What are the differences/advantages of taking MSSQL server backups with just SnapCenter Plugin for VMware vSphere (with VM consistency ON) vs SnapCenter plugin for MS SQL? The SCPV is triggering MSSQL VSS quiescing/snapshot via VMware Tools, so there should be no downsides here. I understand it does not have an option to backup TLogs, but is it the only downside? regards, Jacek

hey guys. I have 2 diffrent netapp under 1 roof (AFF250 running ONTAP9.10 and FAS2650 running NTAP9.9.1). The AFF250 has a CIFS SVM thats hosting a file server of some sort and i want to create a "realtime" snapmirror replication between the AFF250 and FAS2650. I understand i have to create a new SVM and Cluster/SVM peering with the AFF250. But when it comes to actually implementing what i want to do, where can i configure it so that the snapmirror will be done almost real time? To be more specific, when a user creates a file in AFF250/CIFS, i want the created file replicated to the FAS2650 almost immediatly. Any advice is more than appreciated. Thanks!

In the process of setting up xcp to copy from our original to a new filer. Required as the original has language of 'C' and it needs to be 'US_eng' I am absolutely not understanding where to configure the catalog. It _reads_ like it can be a directory on the server I am running xcp from. I put the directory in xcp.ini where the directory is on a local disk. catalog = /opt/NetApp/xFiles/xcp/catalog The command and error: [root@utility-mgmt-004 xcp]# /opt/fdsys/xcp/xcp/linux/xcp scan -newid mgmt1-scan acffdsyssquibxnas-proddev-lif10:/vol/qa_mgmt XCP 1.9.1; (c) 2023 NetApp, Inc.; Licensed to Sean Beverley [US Government Publishing Office] until Tue May 30 11:14:40 2023 xcp: ERROR: mount '/opt/NetApp/xFiles/xcp/catalog': invalid path '/opt/NetApp/xFiles/xcp/catalog' Job ID : Job_2023-03-14_13.22.22.632801_scan Log Path : /opt/NetApp/xFiles/xcp/xcplogs/Job_2023-03-14_13.22.22.632801_scan.log STATUS : FAILED What am I missing. I have already verified rw in the destination filer.

Hi. My client it’s using NDMP for FlexGroups backups by using Netbackup 10.0 . We want to take advantage of CAB so we configured the “SVM-scoped” for all the data SVM’s and using as “preferred-interface-role” for NDMP the one configured data type lif of the vserver so we use a dedicated lif for moving backup data traffic to de backup server. In this case when we start a backup for the volumes that resides in the same node of the lif used for backups everything works fine. But when we migrate that lif to the partner node to simulate a port failure the backup fails with the following message: “ERROR: NDMP Vserver Connect: couldn't find any appropriate preferred local src IP address. ERROR: NDMP Connect: Unable to Connect to [X.X.X.X]:3220 due to Network is unreachable.” Is there any additional ndmp, lif or other configuration that I might be missing here? Volume affinity prioritizes any lif on the same node as the backed up volume? As a recap. What we need (if possible) is to configure a dedicated data-type lif for backup-data traffic that give us the chance to keep backing up data even when it is migrated to the partner node. Thank you all in advance!

Hey, SMBR is now EoL. The nice function of mounting Snapshots by by selecting the DB and time is now gone. SnapCenter is no longer supporting the mount of a Snapshot as drive letter (why?). So I need to script that steps of mounting the Snapshot based on the database and time now to help the team during recovery. I'm stuck with Powershell and SC API at the point where the Snapshots from Secondary need to be mounted. SC authenticates to the SVM but tries to run a "cluster identity show" that does no exist at this level. I also tried it by RestAPI, but stuck where I query the ressources. The RestAPI shows that there is a DAG with members, but I dont get any ressources belonging to it. Has somebody else here the intention to work fix this as well?
