  2. Event APIs - By using these APIs, you can retrieve information about any events that occurred on the storage resources.
  3. Performance metrics APIs - By using these APIs, you can retrieve performance-related information about the storage resources

API Services 1.0 Supports:

  • Red Hat® Enterprise Linux® 6.5
  • Java™ version 1.8
  • Clustered Data ONTAP 8.2 or 8.3
  • OnCommand Unified Manager 6.2 paired with OnCommand Performance Manager 1.1

I see that API services is supported on redhat. Can i run it on CentOS as well or will it just not work?

Hi Bever,

CentOS is not supported with API-S 1.0RC1. We are providing support for CentOS in GA release that is around the corner. Just hang on for a while and you should be able to use API-S 1.0GA on CentOS 6.5.

Thanks,

  Arun

is this a case where the API services will simply not work at all with CentOS today or is it simply a matter of supportability?

Its a matter of supportability. Also, you will not be able to install RC1 on CentOS as the installer checks for the OS and blocks the installation.

Blue Medora published an interesting blog post titled Working with NetApp API Services – What You Need to Know that might be useful to anybody exploring the user of NetApp API Services.
