Hi,

I am running NetApp 8.3.2. I created about 500 volumes and then I deleted those volumes. But it is not getting reflected in the aggregate and I am not able to create new volumes.

naqa253may23::> vol create -volume abc -aggregate aggr1 -size 20MB -state online
[Job 1130] Job is queued: Create abc.
Error: command failed: [Job 1130] Job failed: Maximum number of volumes reached on node “127.0.0.1”.

Why does my aggregate still show that I have 499 volumes and why can't I create more volumes. I have also set unlimited volumes for the Vserver.

naqa253may23::> vserver show -vserver svm249may23 -fields max-volumes

How can I create a new volume? Thanks for your help!

Mohit -

In ONTAP 8.3 the Volume Recovery Queue was introduced.

It may be the problem.

Volumes don't realy get deleted 'till 12hrs after you delete them.

See: https://kb.netapp.com/support/s/article/ka31A0000000y2HQAQ/how-to-use-the-volume-recovery-queue-feature-in-clustered-data-ontap-8-3?language=en_US
