Change data vserver address to different subnet

Hi -

Wondering if I can do this:

  • add a new subnet globally
  • assign a new IP address from this new subnet to an existing CIFS interface on an existing data vserver

If so - is it as easy as 'network interface modify', then stop/start of the CIFS server on that SVM?

Running c-mode 8.3.1 on a pair of FAS8040s.

Sorry if already solved, or if it's a dumb question.

Thanks.

Hi,

Modifiying the lif configuration will work as long as you will have the right default route for the vserver in question.

The cifs vserver will not have any problem connecting to the dc as long as this subnet is routable to the DC that the vserver is part of..

The clients should not have any problems connecting to the lif if they will be able to reach it.
