My 2nd controller shows the disk of the first, but my first controller shows only a few disks

Hello guys,

I'm new with Netapp and I need some help.

I'm using a Netapp 8.1 and I can't understand why my controllers show different things.

The problem is that everytime i try do change ownership or whatever the first controller says that the disk doesn't exist and the 2nd says that the disk is owned by the partner.

Looks like shelves 01 and 02 are physically connected to INFCTR02 only. You need to verify cabling.

Can you please print the following commands twice with one minute between each iteration from the node INFCTR01?

sasadmin adapter_state 0b

sasadmin expander_phy_state 0a.00

from that output we can see if something is connected to the 0b interface and to the internal shelf interface (what looks from the outside as 0a) and if it logs errors.

 

And from both nodes:

sysconfig -a 0

environment status shelf

From those output we can verify the cables models (have to be NetApp) and port to port mapping using the cable s/n we see attached to each port.

The output show that nothing is "connected" to the 01 (left controller) 0a and 0b ports

to see it - search on your output:

[2] Vendor: <N/A> (disconnected)

and

State for adapter channel 0b: OFFLINE (physical)

 

 

The cabling between he shelves looks correct . and from the shelves side it's seems that all the cables are connected and identify with a NetApp part number. it's seems like the other side (the one leading to the 01 controller is just not plugged)

Are the cables maybe up-side-down or maybe damaged after such attempt maybe? (it's easy to do. and it will look fit if you put enough force)
