ifgrp lacp & bpdu

Hi,

I have an ifgrp consisting of 4 x 10GbE ports and our network team have asked that the lacp bridge protocol data unit value be changed from the default 1 second per message to 30 seconds per message (due to vendor recommendations on our core network hardware platform).

Can this be achieved in 8.1.2?

Cheers,

Greg

Hi,

We do not have this capability in clustered ONTAP 8.1.2.

Could you help me with the command used in 7-Mode used to set this parameter? It will allow me to check for alternatives.

Hi Mrinal,

I've never done this on 7-mode, so I have no reference.  Are there any plans to add this functionality in a later version of clustered ONTAP?

Cheers,

Greg

To the best of my knowledge, there are no current plans to make our LACP broadcast rate configurable.

It's certainly going to cause problems with people using 'cheaper' hardware for their core network.  I'll have to run tests to see the impact on the stability of the LACP trunk on my 4xFAS6280 (clustered ONTAP) if one of our core switches dies.

I'll let you know the results, maybe the plans will change .

Hi Greg,

did you already test the stability of LACP trunk on your system?

Have you good news for us?
