This session is about querying performance counters of a cluster mode system. The used programming language is Java and the NetApp Manageability SDK provides a handy interface to bring both together.
The session showed how to connect to a cluster mode system and how to traverse the object->instance->counter hierarchy. In brief two queries were sent to the storage system to get all cpu_usage counters. As these counters are within the object category "system", one query was used to get all the instances. A second query was used to specify object category and the instances returned in the prior query.
Atypically the values weren't sent to a database. Instead they were enqueued in a messaging middleware to transport/distribute them.
The code can be found at https://communities.netapp.com/docs/DOC-18927 . It comes as an eclipse project which can be imported to run quickly.
