Hello All,

How would I know if my IOXM module is damaged. I mean do we have any specific command that shows me the Module is been damaged ?

We have FAS3240

Thanks

Syed

commands "sysconfig -a" and "environment" can provide some info about ioxm. but why do you think that it's failed?

thanks

Jeff

I see an Amber light comming on one of my controller infront anf back and when I run the command

netappctrl1> system health alert show
Node: netappctrl1
Resource: Adapter 0b
Severity: Minor
Probable Cause: HBA port 0b may be improperly connected to an IOM
square port, or the inter-shelf cabling may connect an
IOM square port to an IOM square port.
Possible Effect: Access to the disk shelves attached to controller
netappctrl1 via HBA port 0b may be lost with a single
hardware failure (e.g. cable, HBA, or IOM failure).
Corrective Actions: 1. Halt controller netappctrl1 and any controller that is attached to the same disk shelves as netappctrl1 port 0b.
2. Connect HBA port 0b to IOM circle port, and connect IOM square ports to IOM circle ports following the rules in the Universal SAS and ACP Cabling Guide.
3. Reboot the halted controllers.
4. Contact support personnel if the alert persists.

Node: netappctrl1

circle port, or the inter-shelf cabling may connect an
IOM circle port to an IOM circle port.
Possible Effect: Access to the disk shelves attached to controller
netappctrl1 via HBA port 3a may be lost with a single
hardware failure (e.g. cable, HBA, or IOM failure).
Corrective Actions: 1. Halt controller netappctrl1 and any controller that is attached to the same disk shelves as netappctrl1 port 3a.
2. Connect HBA port 3a to an IOM square port, and connect IOM circle ports to IOM square ports following the rules in the Universal SAS and ACP Cabling Guide.

Node: netappctrl1

Possible Effect: Access to the disk shelves attached to controller
netappctrl1 via HBA port 4a may be lost with a single
hardware failure (e.g. cable, HBA, or IOM failure).
Corrective Actions: 1. Halt controller netappctrl1 and any controller that is attached to the same disk shelves as netappctrl1 port 4a.

ok, are u talking about iom? not ioxm?

if iom, it looks like cabling might be wrong or cable/iom failure. but some of amber light doesnt mean bad, did you check the meaning of light?

as the log mentioned, for the iom cabling, the rule is "square in and circle out".

We have not touched the cabling and I am sure cabling is not an issue. Please see attached picture may be you can shed some light over it.
