Install Ontap on new disk

Dear all,

I have a FAS 2040 system where only one controller (ctl1) was previously installed.

I installed yesterday and configured a new shelf, assign disk for the second controller (ctl2).

In boot menu I have choose :

(7) Install new software first.

--> Update the system from 8.02 to 8.1

But now I have afraid to choose:

(4) Clean configuration and initialize all disks.

The ctl1 is on production... aggr, vol, lun...

Does this option initialize all disks from all the enclosure and erase ctl1 disks?

Or erase only all disk owned by ctl2 where I launch boot menu?

Thanks you very much for your help.

Best regards,

Emmanuel

Hello,

I found the solution...

For someone who want to know how...

In boot menu

5) Maintenance mode boot.

*> disks assign -o <filername> -s <filerID>

*> disk show

## You can show all disk assign by the system

*> halt

## The node will reboot

LOADER> boot_ontap

ctrl+C Enter in boot menu

## The menu had changed

(4) Clean configuration and initialize x disks (owned by the system).

Now you can safety reinstall your system.

Best regards,

Emmanuel
